What is HIFU?
HIFU, short for High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound, is a relatively new non-invasive and non-surgical alternative to face lifts which uses ultrasound energy to encourage the production of collagen, resulting in firmer skin.
At Astute, we utilise 10THERA 2-line simultaneous irradiation HIFU laser to non-invasively deliver ultrasonic heat energy to the dermal and SMAS layers of the skin.
It helps to promote collagen and elastic fiber productions which assists in full-face lifting, tightening, collagen regeneration and skin tone improvement.

Smoothing of skin and fine lines & wrinkle reduction

Non-Invasive, Accurate & Precise Targeting

How does HIFU work?
HIFU utilises ultrasound energy which heats up the tissue below the skin's surface, reaching 60-70 degrees celcius to trigger new collagen growth and promote effective healing and tissue reapair.
It targets 3 key layers: Epidermis, Deep Dermis and Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System.
At 1.5mm depth, it reaches the superficial dermis to be able to reduce melanin to lighten pigmentation and brighten skin.
At 3mm depth, the energy reaches the deep dermis for a skin tightening effect by controlled heating of skin tissue and stimulation of collagen production
At 4.5mm depth, it reaches the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System (SMAS) for a skin lifting effect.

Benefits of HIFU
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) uses a special ultrasound device to create heat at a deep level within the skin, damaging targeted skin cells to encourage and stimulate the body’s natural healing response.
This allows collagen to be produced to aid cell in cell regrowth. The increase in collagen results in tighter, firmer skin with fewer wrinkles.
Some of the benefits include:
-
Wrinkle reduction
-
Tightening sagging skin on the neck (sometimes called turkey neck)
-
Lifting the cheeks, eyebrows, and eyelids
-
Enhancing jawline definition
-
Tightening of the décolletage
-
Smoothing the skin

Treatment Areas
Forehead, Eyelids & Eyebrows
Overactivity and repeated brow lifting could cause frown lines and forehead wrinkles to emerge on the face.
Nasolabial Folds
Also known as laugh lines due to the loss of facial bone density, collagen loss, sagging skin, and the fall of face fat pads, the nasolabial folds could get deeper with time.
Jawline
Sagging of the jawline occurs as a result of worsening jowls and collagen loss (too much skin heaviness and folds on either side of your lower face).
Saggy Cheeks
We have a lot of fat pads beneath the cheeks. When we become older, parts of the fat pads droop, making the cheeks look sagging.
Neck Lines & Neck
Ageing, sun damage, and a lack of moisture, and care may all make the neck skin become drier, less elastic, and thinner.
