SUBCISION

FOR ACNE SCARS

Simple, Safe & Effective

Minimally Invasive Procedure to Treating Depressed Acne Scars Permanently

What is Subcision for Acne Scars?

Subcision is a minimally invasive surgical procedure performed by our doctors that involves using a specialised needle to seperate the scar tissue that is pulling down, or tethered, to the underlying skin under your scar.

This process lifts the depressed scar and promotes collagen production when the fibrotic strands are released, thus resulting in a smoother appearance.

The advantages of subcision include its minimally invasive nature, short downtime and effectiveness for treating depressed scars, bound down scars, cellulite dimples, wrinkles and depressed skin grafts.

Treatment Procedure

During consultation, our doctors will closely examine and identify the scar types on your face to recommend the best treatment approach (i.e., subcision, laser or microneedling).

Prior to the procedure, face will be thoroughly cleansed and scars are mapped out with a surgical pen. Local anaesthesia will be injected to numb the skin to provide better comfort during the procedure.

Typically, a 18G Nokor Needle will be used. The Nokor needle is a tribevelled needle designed specifically for subcision. Upon insertion, the needling is directed to break the bands of scar tissue underneath the skin. Clients may feel a 'plucking' sensation as the needles breaks away the tethered sar tissue.

Once procedure is completed, pressure is applied to reduce bleeding and swelling. A topical antibiotic ointment is also applied to prevent infection and encourage healing

What is the downtime from Subcision?

Some redness and swelling that lasts 2-3 days.

Mild bruising can be expected for 7-10 days.

Subcision and Dermal Fillers For Acne Scars

Subcision with dermal filler injections is one of the procedures that typically gives the most obvious and immediate improvement after treatment. For selected atrophic acne scars, combining subcision with fillers can help smoothen, volumise and stimulates collagen.
